What are the global trends of science communication? As we experienced COVID-19, our society was rapidly transformed into a digital society, and this transition brought about many changes in the situation of science communication in terms of quality and quantity.<br>
What do we do for having “sustainability” of science communication in this changing environment? What are the competence of science communicators?<br>
In this lecture, I would like to introduce the experience of science communication and science culture in Korea that has been carried out for the last 20 years, and in particular, I would like to discuss the future direction of science communication through

the president of PCST Global Network (2023-2025) and a professor of KENTECH, who is teaching history of science and science communication and in charge of HAAS (humanities, arts and social sciences) program. After she studied physics at SNU, history & philosophy
of science at King’s College of London, she had Ph.D on the beginning of London Science Museum and popularization of physical science during the 19th century. Before joining the KENTECH, she had rich experiences of connecting science and society at non-profit
government agencies.<br>
As a director of KOFAC, she planned and executed the <Science Korea Project> and as the deputy director-general of GNSM, she initiated a touring science exhibition of <2030 Future City>, the first co-exhibition by 3 National Science Museums. She is the author
of several science books, 4 of them had the best book award by the Ministry of Science and Technology and Ministry of Culture and Sports. She also has practiced as a science communicator by presenting in a TV documentary series of <The world great cities meet
science> and regularly aired in a Radio program, <Science meet Humanities>. She is now writing science articles regularly in monthly magazine of <Science and Technology> by KOFST and a newspaper <GwanguDream>. She just published a book <12 Big Questions raised

In this lecture, I will first review the history of science communication in Japan since the turn of the 21st century. It will be shown that Japanese science communication has followed a similar path to the development of science communication in the EU.<br>
Then, the importance of the Fukushima nuclear power plants accident and the corona pandemic in the history of science communication in Japan will be pointed out and their impact will be explained. Finally, I will point out that Japanese research institutions,

(2015-19). He was also a Director of Program for Education and Research on Science and Technology in Public Sphere (STiPS).<br>
